    Stage and screen star Lucie Arnaz will direct a reading of Hazel: A Musical Maid in America, a new musical composed by Ron Abel with lyrics by Chuck Steffan, and book by Lissa Levin, Edward Kleban Award-winning playwright and Emmy Award-nominated producer. The special two-day event will take place on October 23rd and 24th at the June Havoc Theatre at the Abingdon Theatre Company in New York City. Klea Blackhurst will play the title role. (more...)

    "Nothing runs for ever," says Mike, played expertly by Michael Russell in UCO Musical Theatre's production of, A Chorus Line. Maybe not, but the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line ran 6,137 performances, receiving 12 Tony Award nominations and winning nine as well as the Pulitzer Prize for drama. A 1975 version of a reality show, A Chorus Line is a groundbreaking musical which gives the audience a snapshot of the inner workings of the audition and more importantly into the psyches of the dancers.     Today in 2006, the first Broadway revival of A Chorus Line opened at the Schoenfeld Theatre, where it ran for 759 performances. A Chorus Line is a musical about Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line. The book was authored by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante, lyrics were written by Edward Kleban, and music was composed by Marvin Hamlisch. With nineteen main characters, it is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical. The show provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. The original Broadway production received 12 Tony Award nominations and winning nine of them, in addition to the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. (more...)

The concert will feature some of Broadway's best performers singing never-before-heard material from Tuck Everlasting, which premieres at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta this winter.
