The Off-Broadway production of Romeo & Bernadette: A Musical Tale of Verona and Brooklyn, with book and lyrics by Mark Saltzman, music adapted from classic Italian melodies, directed and choreographed by Justin Ross Cohen, and starring the original cast, is now being presented at Theater 555.

Producer Eric Krebs, in association with Amas Musical Theatre will present the Off-Broadway production of Romeo & Bernadette: A Musical Tale of Verona and Brooklyn, with book and lyrics by Mark Saltzman, music adapted from classic Italian melodies, directed and choreographed by Justin Ross Cohen.

Due to COVID-19 cases detected in the company, ¡Americano! paused performances this week and resumed on Monday, April 18. Opening night is rescheduled to Sunday, May 1 at 7PM. The original opening night, April 21, was turned into a Special Audience Celebration and VIP Reception.

Amas Musical Theatre today announced the recipients of the fourth Eric H. Weinberger Award for Emerging Librettists, a juried cash and production grant given annually to support the early work and career of a deserving musical theatre librettist, commemorating the life and work of playwright/librettist Eric H. Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Lab will present private industry readings of “Settle Down,” a new musical with book & lyrics by Gabe Caruso and music by Sangwoo ‘Simon’ Lee. Directed by Christopher Scott, with music direction by Andrew Shield, the readings will be on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 4pm and Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 2pm & 6pm.

¡Americano!, the new American musical based on the life of DREAMer and American hero Tony Valdovinos, has announced its cast. Sean Ewing portrays Valdovinos, leading a near-entirely Latino company including Legna Cedillo, Yassmin Alers, Johanna Carlisle-Zepeda, Joseph Paul Cavazos, Lucas Coatney, Devin Cortez, Juan Luis Espinal, and more.

The star crossed lovers – Romeo (Nikita Burshteyn) and Bernadette (Anna Kostakis) were reunited this week for the first time in 2 years when they met with the show’s director/choreographer Justin Ross Cohen for a photo shoot in anticipation of the show’s return.  Check out the fun video!
