Lineup Announced for DC Jazzfest 2020

The DC Jazz Festival ® (DC JazzFest), announced today its initial list of artists set to perform at the 16th annual event, DC JazzFest presented by Events DC, June 12-21, 2020 in Washington, DC. First round lineup includes: Joshua Redman, Kenny Garrett, Cyrus Chestnut, Lakecia Benjamin, Pedrito Martinez, Eubanks-Evans-Experience, Donald Harrison, Antonio Hart, T.K. Blue, Matt Wilson's Honey & Salt, Shabaka & The Ancestors, Warren Wolf, The Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, Jamie Baum & Short Stories, Matthew Whitaker, Laurin Talese, The Washington Renaissance Orchestra, and many more domestic and international musicians yet to be announced. Additional special performances by the 2020 DCJazzPrix finalists, Centennial Tributes to jazz pioneers Charlie a?oeYardbirda?? Parker and Dave Brubeck, and the DC JazzFest finale (Sunday, June 21) with a performance by one of the greatest contemporary jazz artists of all time [soon to be announced].

Trenton Children's Chorus Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary

The Trenton Children's Chorus (TCC) launched its 30th anniversary season with its 9th annual benefit, One Voice, on Friday, September 27 at Morven Museum & Garden. With nearly 250 attendees, the fundraiser raised over $135,000 to support Trenton Children's Chorus.

International Jazz Icon Igor Butman Announces 2020 Winter US Tour

This coming January, world famous saxophone player, bandleader and producer Igor Butman will travel to the United States for a five-city tour of some of the country's most celebrated jazz institutions. The tour will mark the twentieth anniversary of Butman's acclaimed Moscow Jazz Orchestra, a 16-piece powerhouse ensemble described by DownBeat Magazine as 'an outfit of virtuosos.' Butman, a firm proponent of cross-border and cross genre-collaboration, has performed with a long roster of jazz greats including Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, Lionel Hampton, Grover Washington Jr and Wynton Marsalis, among others. The jazz luminary continues his ambassadorship of modern Russian culture with his upcoming Winter tour of the United States. Butman, along with the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, will perform at the Blue Note, in New York City January 30th through February 2nd, at the Keystone Corner in Baltimore on February 5th, at the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center on February 7th in Cutler Bay, Florida, at The Promontory in Hyde Park, Chicago, on February 9th, at Center Makor in Boston on February 12th, and at the Blue Llama in Ann Arbor, Michigan on February 13th.

Each season An die Musik (oboe, string trio, and piano), co-founded in 1976 by pianist Constance Emmerich, returns to an enthusiastic and overflowing crowd at Merkin Hall to perform with imagination, brilliance, and warmth.
