The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) Music Director Jaap van Zweden will lead the orchestra in a concert featuring the World Premiere of A Madman's Diary by Hong Kong composer Alvin Tam Lok-hei, the Asia Premiere of Christopher Rouse's Symphony no. 5, and Prokofiev's Symphony no. 5, one of the great orchestral works of the 20th century. The concert will take place on 23 January 2020 (Thursday, ONE performance only) at 8pm in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.

New York Youth Symphony Announces Its 57th Season Of Concerts And Venues

New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), is proud to continue its mission of educating and inspiring young musicians through its Orchestra, Jazz, Chamber Music, Composition, Musical Theater Composition, Apprenticeship Conducting, and First Music commissioning programs. This season includes seven world premieres of new works commissioned through the First Music program, composed for the Orchestra, Jazz, and Chamber Music ensembles. Grammy Award-winning American organist Paul Jacobs-deemed 'a grand New York institution' by James R. Oestreich of The New York Times (February 18, 2018)- will launch the fall season by highlighting the organ on the New York concert scene, performing in a three-recital series for solo organ in September 2019. Although months in the planning, these French programs assumed new meaning the night of April 15 to 16, 2019, when the Grand Organ of Notre-Dame Cathedral survived the devastating inferno in Paris.

Philippe Treuille to Premiere Two New Works

Award winning, Julliard trained, young composer, Philippe Treuille, will premiere his new works, Nuptialis and Baptismus, on Saturday, May 18th, 2019, at the Church of the Incarnation in New York City. The premiere will feature 60 performers from the Long Island Choral Society and orchestra, conducted by maestro Meredith E. Baker. The two pieces blend traditional and modern compositional techniques with text drawn from the Latin liturgy and Song of Solomon.
