The Passion of Joan of Arc (Carl Theodor Dreyer, 1928) is widely regarded as not only one of the most important films from the silent era but a movie that proved film could also be art. On Sunday, January 17 at 7:30pm the cult-classic will be screened in VPAC's Great Hall, accompanied by The Orlando Consort's period medieval music-much of which was composed during Joan of Arc's lifetime--for a unique evening blending silent film with live music that bring the story of Saint Joan to life onstage.

Tuesday, Google announced the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's participation in the opening of the Google Cultural Institute, a new online exhibition that offers unique, interactive, online experiences from 60 of the world's foremost cultural institutions. With events at Carnegie Hall, and in six other cities across the globe, Google debuted this first-of-its-kind exhibition, which allows viewers to experience the best in dance, music, opera and more.

THE CHRISTIANS, a new play written by Lucas Hnath, will open at the Center Theatre Group / Mark Taper Forum on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at 7 p.m. CTG and Playwrights Horizons are presenting performances of the Actors Theatre of Louisville production through January 10, 2016. The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce the addition of Jim Brickman's Comfort & Joy Holiday Tour to the 2015-16 Season. Brickman will perform tonight, December 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Jason C. Tramm, artistic director and principal conductor of the Morristown based MidAtlantic Opera will serve as guest conductor for the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble's Annual Winter concert at the historic Julia Richman Auditorium, Sunday December 13th at 3PM. 

Chamber Orchestra of New York, Salvatore Di Vittorio, Music Director, will present Gershwin and Tchaikovsky, with Di Wu, a concert on Saturday, December 12 - 8:00 PM at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, 57th Street at Seventh Avenue in Manhattan. Soloists will be Di Wu, pianoforte and Thomas Boulton, trumpet.

Westchester Broadway Theatre presents TIM AND SCROOGE, A CAROL FOR A LATER CHRISTMAS, with music by Neil Berg and book & lyrics by Nick Meglin. Directed by Nick Corley with musical direction by Patrick Hoagland, the production will run tonight, December 3 - December 27, 2015.

Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA (EVUSA), one of New York's preeminent choral ensembles, will present SING CHRISTMAS, a sing-along of traditional carols and holiday songs by Broadway's finest, tonight, December 3 at 9:30pm at Feinstein's / 54 Below.

Last night Cafe Carlyle welcomed back GRAMMY Award-winner Steve Tyrell for a four-week engagement and BroadwayWorld was there for opening night. The renowned singer returns with a new show, One More For The Road, featuring a full set of Sinatra favorites in celebration of Ol' Blue Eyes' 100th birthday. It's a fitting tribute since it was actually a Sinatra song, 'The Way You Look Tonight,' that Tyrell sang in the 1991 movie, Father of the Bride, which launched his career as a singer. Years later, the Sinatra family handpicked Tyrell to perform 'Fly Me To The Moon' at the Hollywood Bowl, with Quincy Jones conducting the orchestra, when the Chairman was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2005. Tyrell's ties to the Sinatra family remain tight as he was once again asked to host a three-hour celebration on Siriusly Sinatra on Frank's actual birthday, December 12. He will be live from Patsy's for Sirius XM radio, just as he did in 2014.

Stephen Hanks' Cabaret Life Productions and Associate Producer Fr. Jeffrey Hamblin, MD, are bringing back Karen Oberlin's 2010 Frank Loesser Tribute Show (with original Musical Director Jon Weber and bass player Sean Smith) as the first 2016 installment of the 'New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits' series at the Metropolitan Room on January 13 at 7 pm. 'I entered the cabaret world as a reviewer in late 2010 so I never saw this show,' says Hanks. 'I'm thrilled Karen Oberlin agreed to bring it back so those like me who didn't experience it will get a chance now.'

Kristin Chenoweth has signed on to the cast of the upcoming indie comedy CLASS RANK. The Tony winner, along with actor Bruce Dern, join previously announced cast member Olivia Holt.
