Choir Set for THE CHRISTIANS at Mark Taper Forum This Winter

Center Theatre Group has selected singers from across the greater Los Angeles area to perform as members of the church choir in the West Coast premiere of THE CHRISTIANS written by Lucas Hnath and directed by Les Waters. THE CHRISTIANS is presented by CTG and Playwrights Horizons at the Mark Taper Forum, December 2, 2015, through January 10, 2016. The opening is set for December 13.

Luminary jazz guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and bandleader celebrates the centennial of the legendary Frank Sinatra with an exclusive VPAC performance: John Pizzarelli: DEAR MR. SINATRA, A SWINGING CENTENNIAL featuring Monica Mancini and Cheyenne Jackson. Pizzarelli, who has recorded with the likes of Paul McCartney, James Taylor, and Rosemary Clooney, will bring his signature swinging song interpretations of 'Ol' Blue Eyes' to the VPAC Stage on December 12, 2015.

On Monday night, the Broadway at Birdland concert series kicked off a four-night run starring Tony Award-winning actress/singer Christine Ebersole and Grammy Award-winning composer/pianist/singer Billy Stritch in OUR FAVORITE THINGS. The Morrisson Theatre Chorus, under the musical direction of Cesar Cancino, will present its Holiday Concert: Special Songs for a Special Time of the Year on December 10, December 11 and December 12 at 8:00pm and December 13 at 2:00pm. The Holiday Concert will feature a selection of Classical Sacred works, Popular Holiday songs, Jazz and Gospel, as well as audience sing-a-long pieces.

On Sunday, December 20 at 3:00PM in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute presents A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS in a special holiday Family Concert with The New York Pops and Music Director Steven Reineke. This staged concert version of the iconic television special brings the whole Peanuts gang to life through original choreography by director/choreographer Liza Gennaro, as performed by dancers from New York Theatre Ballet. Returning to The New York Pops Family Concert this season, Broadway actor John Bolton (Spamalot, Contact, Titanic) will narrate the classic Christmas tale, with additional characters voiced by students from TADA! Youth Theater. Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA will join The New York Pops to perform Vince Guaraldi's memorable score.

Raleigh, N.C. -- The North Carolina Symphony will perform A BAROQUE CHRISTMAS on Friday, December 4, at noon and 8 p.m., Saturday, December 5 at 8 p.m. in Raleigh's Meymandi Concert Hall, and again on Wednesday, December 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Over the summer, the Glimmerglass Festival presented Bernstein's take on Candide. As philosophical as it is satirical, the productiontransports Voltaire's novella and its Enlightenment-era ideas to the stage, and features classic tunes such as 'The Best of All Possible Worlds,' 'Glitter and Be Gay' and 'Make our Garden Grow.'

On December 8, Palm Beach Dramaworks launches the third season of its highly successful Dramalogue - Talking Theatre! series with Paul Gemignani: Musical Theatre's Master Maestro. The program features the esteemed Broadway musical director in conversation with Sheryl Flatow. Gemignani, recipient of the 2001 Lifetime Achievement Tony Award, will discuss a remarkable career still going strong after more than 40 years, and talk about how he helps shape a show and bring a score to life. The program will be presented twice, at 2pm (limited seating available) and 7pm at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre.
