BWW Reviews: Amy Lynn & The Gunshow Tear the Roof Off 54 BelowBWW Reviews: Amy Lynn & The Gunshow Tear the Roof Off 54 Below
by David Clarke - Feb 27, 2015

The funk soul of Motown is being modernized and reshaped by big name acts like Bruno Mars and Fitz and The Tantrums; however, no one is doing it quite like Amy Lynn & The Gunshow. Strip away the frills of a large record label, throw in a ton of sass, mix with wit and charisma, and garnish with an explosive horn section. That is the recipe for Amy Lynn & The Gunshow's style, and it leaves a whole lotta shakin' goin' on! (more...)

BWW Reviews: Tony Winner John Lloyd Young Croons in OC Valentines ConcertBWW Reviews: Tony Winner John Lloyd Young Croons in OC Valentines Concert
by Michael L. Quintos - Feb 16, 2015

For John Lloyd Young's special Valentine's weekend cabaret concert titled 'My Turn'---which continues at the Samueli Theater on the campus of Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts through February 14---the Tony Award-winning star of JERSEY BOYS presented an hour-long set of love songs, both joyful and heart-tugging. With the confidence and panache of a seasoned old-school song interpreter and showman, Young oh-so-passionately crooned and belted his way through an enjoyable songbook of personally curated classic standards that reverberated with the highs and lows of love. Not So Happy Valentine's Day? Broadway's Most Anti-Love SongsNot So Happy Valentine's Day? Broadway's Most Anti-Love Songs
by BWW Special Coverage - Feb 14, 2015

Happy Valentine's Day! Oh, it's not a happy Valentine's Day for you? Well, I'm sorry, but as you are probably all to aware of then, misery loves COMPANY; and yes, I am talking about the revolutionary 1970 Sondheim musical. Like all things, the lonliness, anger, and depression that is sometimes associated with being alone on this most Hallmark of holiudays is always made better by show tunes. (more...)

Love is in the air, Gleeks! Last week, Brittany and Santana kicked off the Valentine's Day vibe with last week beginning to really get into planning their upcoming nuptials. Brittany attempted to get Santana's Abuela to make up with her and come to their wedding, but despite both of their attempts to get Abuela to step outside of her close minded ways, Abuela failed to see the fruits of their love (more...)

A funny thing happened on the way to doing last week's recap: I somehow ended up trapped in an elevator and was taunted by Sue Slyvester - isn't that the craziest thing? Anyway, just to give you a little recap of last week: Spencer and Kitty both decided to join the glee club, due in no small part from words of wisdom from Sam and Rachel respectively. The Warblers performed 'My Sharona' and 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' while their captain of the ship, Blaine was trapped in an elevator with his lovely ex, Kurt, and forced to kiss and make up (literally) by Sue herself. Wow, she certainly got around last week trapping people in elevators stuff. (more...)
