The fall season is curated by Cathy Weis and guest curators Emily Climer, Joanna Kotze, Wendy Perron, and Adrienne Truscott. All events begin at 6pm. $10 suggested donation at the door. WeisAcres is located at 537 Broadway, #3 (between Prince and Spring Streets), in Manhattan.

The show exalts black protagonism in a show that narrates and goes through the successes of Brazilian and international Black Music. On the scene, Ícaro Silva plays the commander Icarus, who pilots a spaceship and lands in various corners of the world at different times. It is a theatrical show-based show, a 'documentary play' with playful features such as projections and videomapping, which make the audience travel through time and space. In this musical journey, featuring live music and musical direction by Alexandre Elias, choreographies by Victor Maia, the staging honors names such as Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Tim Maia, Wilson Simonal, Beyonce and James Brown.

 The Hip Abduction—a band fueled by African rhythms, dub spirit, and roots soul—are stoked to announce the release of To the Ends of the Earth, available everywhere on Aug. 9. This release, a sonic expedition past genre barriers, aiming to guide listeners towards anthemic bliss, is the band's fourth full-length independent album. The band, David New (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Chris Powers (Bass), Dave Johnson (Baritone, Tenor Saxophone), Cody Moore (Keyboards), Matt Poynter (Drums, Vocals), and Justino Walker (Guitar), call St. Petersburg, FL home and mined an expansive well of local and global influences to sharpen their signature style on To the Ends of the Earth. New describes the sound best as, “an ethereal journey to the ends of the earth,” after which the album was named. The band, along with producers Jackson Hoffman and Ryder Stuart, set out to create a timeless record, remembering back to their early days of informal jam sessions. “It helped us come to terms with who we are as a band, defining our sound. BBC One, Turbine Studios and Lammas Park are proud to announce that Oscar and Bafta-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen (Widows, Twelve Years A Slave) has cast his TV series entitled Small Axe for BBC One with an all-star British cast including John Boyega and Letitia Wright. The series is executive produced by Tracey Scoffield and David Tanner for Turbine Studios and Steve McQueen for Lammas Park. Shooting began on location in London on June 24.

This summer, the 21st Annual JAW: A Playwrights Festival brings three new plays to The Armory for two weeks of script workshopping that will culminate in the JAW Big Weekend, where public staged readings of the scripts will be presented along with performances from local artists and classes. This year's plays are What Are You Worth? by Kara Lee Korthron, an adaptation of Howards End by Caroline Hewitt, and Otto Frank by Roger Guenveur Smith.
