The Gregg Allman biopic MIDNIGHT RIDER was forced to suspend production until June following the death of second camera assistant Sarah Jones in a train accident on-set on February 20.

The project was scheduled to begin filming on February 28, 2014, and now the man at the center of the film, rocker Gregg Allman, is suing producers at Unclaimed Freight, saying the Formal Option Agreement with director Randall Miller's company expired when principal production did not begin on time.

Entertainment Weekly has all the details here.

This lawsuit follows a previous attempt by Allman to shut down MIDNIGHT RIDER. He wrote in a personal letter to Miller last month, saying: "I am writing to you as one human being to another, and appealing to you from my heart. I am asking you from a personal perspective not to go forward."

William Hurt, who was set to portray Gregg in the film, withdrew from the project last month. Tyson Ritter, the lead singer-songwriter of pop-rock band The All-American Rejects, will play Duane Allman.

The film is based on Allman's memoir 'My Cross to Bear'. It will tell the story of "Gregg Allman's journey from struggling artist through the formation and subsequent success of The Allman Brothers Band, which saw the musician succumb to the excesses of rock and roll; and Gregg Allman's realization at 64 that he has to get clean for good or risk losing his life."
