The 36th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Program will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Casino Live Hotel Ballroom in Hanover, Md. Dignitaries attending will include Maryland Governor Wes Moore, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman John Sarbanes, County Executive Steuart Pittman, and Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley. The keynote speaker will be Congressman Jonathan Jackson, the youngest son of Rev. Jesse Jackson and godson to Dr. King. Governor Moore will also provide comments at the event.

Continuing its season theme of "Off Your Rocker," The Highwood Theatre will present an all-new production of the quirky musical "Soon," opening in April. "Soon" is Highwood's 5th annual Open Source Theatre Project, and with the intent of redefining conceptions of a traditional night at the theatre, will feature two casts - one made up of talented high school students and one of adult professionals. With Nashville's theater/music/entertainment/arts communities now abuzz about the world premiere of Part of the Plan, a new musical by Kate Atkinson and Karen Harris that is inspired by the music of American troubadour Dan Fogelberg, and which features a score of songs from among the singer/songwriter's catalog of biggest hits.
