As a child of the 90s, the classic Disney movies have a special place in my heart. The company's track record of transforming these tales into full-length musical productions has always been met with anticipation of how the magic of the movies will blossom on stage. The Little Mermaid, the current production at BDT Stage, is no exception to the glitz.
Throughout musical theatre history, there have been many shows that have set a new standard for the stage. Among them are those that become classics of the musical theatre repertoire, such as Fiddler on the Roof, Carousel, and Candlelight's latest production, Man of La Mancha.
Come brush up your Shakespeare with The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse's production of the classic Cole Porter romantic comedy Kiss Me, Kate. Originally staged on Broadway in 1948, Kiss Me, Kate won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Its successful revival on Broadway in 1999 proved that this behind-the-scenes theatrical love story has a timeless appeal. Kiss Me, Kate has it all - memorable characters, not one but two love stories, and of course those wonderful Cole Porter songs.
There are some shows that are just easy to love. It's been 60 years since The Music Man premiered on Broadway, but the classic tuner hasn't lost its allure. In fact, this is the show that launched Candlelight Dinner Playhouse back in 2008. The Johnstown theatre has brought it back as their 10th season opener.
The Addams Family has been playing BDT Stage in Boulder since November, but even though death is just around the corner for this show's run, it still manages to be everything but neat, sweet and petite. (Which is exactly what an homage to the classic family deserves.)
There are a few shows that one can say the title of, and even a random person off the street who knows nothing about theatre would say 'I have heard of that.' Hello, Dolly! is one of those shows.
'But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks'
This line from Romeo & Juliet is one of the most famous moments in theatrical history. Romeo & Juliet is arguably the most beloved and notable love story in the world. Star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, continue to evolve, with one of their most notable contemporaries as West Side Story's Tony and Maria.

This is' family entertainment' in the truest sense of the word and this fantastic production is appropriate and enjoyable for all ages.
The talented cast shows off their superb comedic skills with perfect timing of Monty Python's cunning sarcasm, witty banter, and amusing wordplay.
Rude Frenchmen, cancan dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, killer rabbits, catapulting cows, and the somewhat odd Knights who say 'ni' are just part of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his knights of the very, very, very round table in their quest for the holy grail. Lovingly ripped off from the motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is the fresh and irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend. It was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning three, including Best New Musical for 2005. During its initial run, it was seen by more than two million people and now you can see it right in your own backyard as Boulder's Dinner Theatre sets forth on the quest for the Holy Grail this winter - playing tonight, November 16, 2013 through March 1, 2014.
