SPAMALOT to Play Boulder Dinner Theatre, 11/16-3/1

By:

Rude Frenchmen, cancan dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, killer rabbits, catapulting cows, and the somewhat odd Knights who say "ni" are just part of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his knights of the very, very, very round table in their quest for the holy grail. Lovingly ripped off from the motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is the fresh and irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend. It was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning three, including Best New Musical for 2005. During its initial run, it was seen by more than two million people and now you can see it right in your own backyard as Boulder's Dinner Theatre sets forth on the quest for the Holy Grail this winter - playing November 16, 2013 through March 1, 2014.

Leading the quest is King Arthur (Wayne Kennedy) with his trusty servant Patsy (Scott Beyette). Playing his gallant knights - and a broad assortment of other characters - are Brian Jackson as Sir Lancelot the Homicidally Brave, Bob Hoppe as Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot, Scott Severtson as Sir Galahad, the Dashingly Handsome, Brian Norber as Sir Bedevere, the Strangely Flatulent, and Alicia Dunfee as The Lady of the Lake. Spamalot features references to "Monty Python's Flying Circus" skits, The Lumberjack Song, Spam, and Dead Parrot Sketch. And of course some of Broadway's best musicals are skewered along the way including a spoof of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Man of La Mancha, Les Miserables and The Producers.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal John Cleese (a founding member of Monty Python) said, "I defy anyone to go and not have a really fun evening. It's the silliest thing I've ever seen."

Tickets for Monty Python's Spamalot are on sale now. Prices start at just $38, and include both the performance and dinner served by the stars of the show. All tickets for opening weekend (Saturday, November 16 - Sunday, November 17, 2013) are just $38. Group rate tickets and season subscriptions are available for all performances throughout the year. Call (303) 449-6000 or log on to www.bouldersdinnertheatre.com for reservations and/or additional details about the show.

Boulder's Dinner Theatre presents four Broadway-quality musicals each season, and has been recognized locally and nationally for theatrical excellence. Boulder's Daily Camera praises BDT's "consistency in technical achievement, performance and overall production level as it sets a high standard for theatrical professionalism in the Boulder area." BDT's 36th season continues with Monty Python's Spamalot opening on November 16, 2013, followed by the regional premiere of Sisters of Swing, and Shrek The Musical.
