Garden Theatre Expands Educational Repertoire with New Spring 2015 Classes

The Garden Theatre is proud to announce 2015 Spring Classes in partnership with Karen Rugerio and Act III Acting Studio from February through May at the Garden Theatre (160 West Plant St., Winter Garden). A major expansion of Garden Theatre educational efforts, these spring classes provide students experience in the worlds of music, dance and theatre with a focus on collaboration, social development and critical thinking for students ages 5-17.

Reel Acting Part I
February 12 - March 19, 2015
Thursdays 4:15-5:45 p.m.
This class is a fun and personal approach to acting for film, camera and commercials. The class will emphasize natural behaviors in script and improvisational acting. Some attention will be given to vocal production and using music as a tool to explore self awareness and strengths. Finding your actor's "voice" will propel unique individual and group projects. Techniques for auditions, making a resume and tricks of the trade will be shared.
Tuition: $200, Ages 10-17

Reel Acting Part II
April 2 - May 21, 2015
Thursdays 4:15-5:45 p.m.
Advanced work with monologues, scene study, collaboration and acting the song for interested actors. This class will develop audition techniques and "how to get the part." Opportunities will be provided for meeting a local agent and learning the inside of acting as a career.
Tuition: $250, Ages 13-17

ABCs of Acting
March 31 - May 19, 2015
Tuesdays 4:15-5:45 p.m.
An acting class for self-expression and self-confidence. By encouraging each child in a relaxed and positive environment, children will build a repertoire of expressing emotions and preparing for performance. Will end in a mini-performance.
Tuition: $250, Ages 7-12

Kids Kompany
Feb 7 - May 30, 2015*
Saturdays 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Using each child's eagerness to express him/herself, the class will explore the basics of acting naturally and being comfortable onstage and on camera. Children will learn collaboration, being part of a team, sharing ideas and expressions and end in a mini-performance. Parents will have some workshop opportunities to learn the business of the biz and how to advocate for your child.
Tuition: $425, Ages 5-9

*No classes on February 28, March 28 and April 11.
