Tonight, May 30 at 7:30pm at the Tenri Cultural Institute of New York (43A West 13th Street) in the West Village, Voice Afire Pocket Opera & Cabaret will present an evening of wine and the premiere of Kafka Shorts, an original live music performance piece inspired by and using text from The Parables of Franz Kafka.

The evening will begin with a wine reception showcasing red, white and port wines of Portugal, followed by Ray Luedeke's Kafka Shorts, a unique and original music performance piece for 2 actors and string quartet. The piece uses as its text the amusing, terrifying, perplexing Parables of Franz Kafka.

Directed by Dan Swern of CoLAB Arts and sponsored by the American Composers Alliance, Kafka Shorts will also feature a sampling of string quartets by Kenneth Fuchs, Matthew Davidson, and John S. Gray.

The performers are actors Eric Gravez and Paula Llapur; the Voice Afire String Quartet includes top NYC violinists Artur Kaganovskiy and Julianne Klopotic, violist Ann Roggen, and cellist Lawrence Zoernig.

The wine reception will begin at 7:30pm tonight, May 30, with Kafka Shorts performance at 8pm, all taking place at the Tenri Cultural Institute of New York (43A West 13th Street). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance online at www.AlfamaArts.com.
