Photo Flash: NYMF Opening Night Party
The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) celebrated its fifth year with a special opening night party on September 15th, 2008. This year NYMF is presenting 24 full productions, a dance series, a developmental series, concerts and special events. NYMF is an annual three-week event that has premiered over 130 musicals in its first four years – many of which have gone on to award-winning productions in New York, in regional theaters and on tour in 38 states, and nine countries worldwide. NYMF 2004 hit Altar Boyz has played well over 1,000 performances off-Broadway and spawned two National Tours; fellow NYMF alum [title of show] recently opened to rave reviews at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway; Off-Broadway audiences will soon see return engagements of The Blue Flower and My Vaudeville Man.
This year's Festival will began September 15th and continue through October 5th. A full breakdown of this year's performances and venues follows. Memberships combining charitable contributions with valuable, flexible ticket packages are available for purchase now at www.nymf.org.
Hailed as "the Sundance of Musical Theatre," NYMF is widely regarded as the essential source for new work and emerging artists, and is the largest musical theatre event in America. NYMF exists to revitalize one of America's greatest art forms by discovering, supporting and promoting new musical theater artists, and by introducing audiences to the vibrancy and diversity of contemporary musical theater.
