The Morris Museum concludes its 2015 season of family programming with a Tot Tour highlighting the Museum's Mega Model Trains display; a Gingerbread Building Workshop; and our annual Toyland Family Festival. Also on the schedule are performances of "Journey to Candyland" and Jeff Boyer's "Bubble Trouble."

Tot Tours
All Aboard!
Friday, December 11, 10:00AM

Ages 2 to 5 (with a caregiver)

Our youngest visitors are invited to join us as we explore our interactive Mega Model Train display. We will be learning all about trains and making caboose magnets.

Free with Museum admission. Advance registration required.

Gingerbread Building Workshop
Saturday, December 12
Two sessions: 1:00PM and 3:00PM

Design your own delectable Ginger Bread House. The Museum will provide the kit and all supplies necessary to create your one of a kind holiday house. Then take home your delicious work. Parents or guardian must accompany children. Advance registration required.

Tickets: $25/house for Members and $30/house for Non-members

Toyland Family Festival
Monday, December 29, 11:00AM - 4:00PM

Kick off winter vacation with a day of indoor family fun at the Morris Museum.

  • Take a performance of "Journey to Candyland" in the Theatre
  • Craft a penguin puppet
  • Create a fantasy animal out of recycled materials
  • Make a miniature toy wagon with wheels that turn
  • See our 288-square foot mega model train in action
  • Explore the new exhibit, Animal Kingdom-Toying with Art

Children's Theatre
Journey to Candyland
Monday, December 28, 11:00AM and 1:30PM

Join balloon artists Allyn and Annie Gooen as they fill the stage with extraordinary balloons taking the entire audience on a creative journey to Candyland. Presented by Gooen's Balloowins. Part of the Toyland Family Festival.

Bubble Trouble
Tuesday, December 29, 11:00AM and 1:30PM

A bubble volcano! A bubble roller coaster! A kid in a bubble? Jeff Boyer takes bubbles to the max in this bubble extravaganza. Jeff juggles bubbles, sculpts and builds with bubbles, makes fog-filled bubbles, and more.

Tickets: $10 for Members; $12 for Non-members

About the Morris Museum

Founded in 1913, the Morris Museum is an award-winning, community-based arts and cultural institution which serves the public through high caliber exhibitions in the arts, sciences and humanities. The Museum also offers educational programs, family events, and is home to the Bickford Theatre and its wide range of performing arts offerings. Continuously serving the public since 1913, the Morris Museum has been designated a Major Arts Institution and has received the New Jersey State Council on the Arts' Citation of Excellence, among other awards. The first museum in New Jersey to be accredited, the Morris Museum was re-accredited in 2013 by the American Alliance of Museums.

The Morris Museum is a Blue Star Museum, offering free admission to active duty military personnel and their families, from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Location & Hours

The Museum is located at 6 Normandy Heights Road (at the corner of Columbia Turnpike) in Morristown, NJ, and is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 11:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday, 12:00 to 5:00pm. In addition, the Museum is open evenings from 5:00 to 8:00pm on the second and third Thursday of the month. Admission to the Museum is $10 for adults and $7 for children, students and senior citizens. Admission is always free for Museum members.
