The Peterborough Players third play of the season is John Patrick Shanley's touching and romantic comedy OUTSIDE MULLINGAR. The play debuts Wednesday, July 15th at 7:30 p.m.

Shanley is best known for writing the Tony Award winning play, Doubt, plus the Academy Award winning film Moonstruck. Stanley has worked extensively in theatre and motions pictures as a writer. Some of his most famous screenplays include Joe Versus The Volcano (also directed), The January Man and Alive.

OUTSIDE MULLINGAR is Shanley's latest stage play and it had its world premiere in New York in 2014. It received 2 Drama Desk nominations and one Tony Award nomination for Best Play. The New York Times called it "Shanley's finest work since 'Doubt.'"

No more beautiful or loving play has appeared on Broadway. Set in rural Ireland, OUTSIDE MULLINGAR tells the story of the Muldoon and Reilly families, and of their rival heirs, Anthony and Rosemary. Each are loners, eccentrics, approaching 40, and just possibly, meant for each other. This romantic comedy is a very Irish story filled with delightful off-kilter humor, and so tender it could melt a stone.

It stars a quartet of the Peterbrough Players' most acclaimed professional actors: Bridget Beirne, Tom Frey, Dale Hodges and Michael Page. The production is directed by Peterborough Players' Artistic Director, Gus Kaikkonen.

OUTSIDE MULLINGAR runs from July 15th through the 26th. Tickets are $39 each. Students (with proper ID) can purchase tickets one hour before any show for $15.
