Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today the fall 2009 honorees from among 39 Minnesota high schools participating in its 2009-10 SpotLight Musical Theatre Program. These SpotLight honors recognize students for their individual and group accomplishments in performance and production. The SpotLight program supports the work of Twin Cities' high schools that present musical theatre-from classics including Fiddler on the Roof to the adaptation of Dickens' The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

Current honorees, recognized by school and by category (see attached for detailed lists), are from Bemidji High School, Centennial High School, Champlin Park High School, Chaska High School, Dassel-Cokato High School, East Ridge High School, Eastview High School, Edina High School, Forest Lake High School, Fridley High School, Hopkins High School, Irondale High School, Kennedy High School, Lakeville North High School, Maple Grove High School, Minnetonka High School, Moorhead High School, Mound Westonka High School, Robbinsdale Cooper High School, Shakopee High School, Tartan High School, Totino Grace High School, Wayzata High School and White Bear Lake High School. Additional honors to schools presenting musicals in the spring of 2010, including recognition for technical achievement and community engagement, will be announced later. These high school musicals are made possible by the collaboration of more than 2,500 students and are seen by an estimated 50,000 audience members annually.
