Wondering what unique gift to buy that "special someone" for the holidays? How about a live theatre experience they'll never forget?

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre has an abundance to choose from in December and January, including the two hit musicals Academy and The Sound of Music, a New Year's performance by The Capitol Steps, a holiday concert by the Palm Beach Gardens Concert Band and a star-studded gala at The Breakers Palm Beach.

"Theatre tickets truly make the perfect gift," said the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Artistic Director, Andrew Kato, who is also directing the Theatre's world premiere of Academy. "In addition to choosing tickets to a particular show, many people each year purchase a four-play season subscription or a gift certificate, which allows their loved ones to choose shows that intrigue them the most."

Here's a look at some of our upcoming Theatre entertainment this holiday season:

Tuesday, December 7 - Thursday, December 19 - WORLD PREMIERE MUSICAL: Academy
The hit new musical that has been generating rave reviews from New York to South Korea, Academy takes place at St. Edwards Academy, and follows the story of two seniors who make a harmless bet on whether they can influence an unsuspecting freshman to break a few rules to succeed. But when the transaction goes recklessly out of control, the boys become entangled in a fight for their own academic and personal survival. Call for showtimes; tickets are $46-$60.

Monday, December 20 - Palm Beach Gardens Concert Band Holiday Concert
In what has become an annual tradition, this is your chance to hear popular and traditional Christmas songs played by the full band - plus surprise performances by vocal and instrumental soloists - in a joyous celebration of the holiday season. Under the direction of well-known music educator Randy Sonntag, performers in the not-for-profit concert band range in age from 16 to 90, and include professional musicians, retired music teachers and students. Sponsored by Kretzer Piano. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All tickets $12.

Wednesday, December 22 - The Best of Broadway
Students from the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Conservatory of Performing Arts present a fun-filled musical revue featuring songs and scenes from The Music Man, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Tommy, CATS and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The show is sure to be a rousing treat for the entire family. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets $15-$20.

Wednesday, December 29 - The Sound of Music - The Movie
As part of the Theatre's free movie series, the hills come alive with Julie Andrews in this classic movie sing-a-long, filled with memorable music that will make this film one of your favorite things. Showtime is 7 p.m. Free event, but advance tickets are required; call the box office to reserve your tickets today.

Friday, December 31, and Saturday, January 1 - The Capitol Steps - New Year's Eve and Day
The group that put "mock" in democracy is back with a hilarious new show to ring in the New Year. Come along for the ride as they take a humorous look at some serious issues. Friday showtimes are 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. Tickets are $50, $60 and $85 for special VIP seats with Champagne toast, and meet and greet.

Tuesday, January 11 - Sunday, January 30 - The Sound of Music
The largest Maltz Jupiter Theatre production to date, seven rambunctious children and an irreverent nun welcome your family into theirs with The Sound of Music. The final musical written by Rodgers and Hammerstein follows the von Trapp family as they leave Austria to escape Nazi persecution. Featuring such musical favorites as My Favorite Things, Do, Re, Mi, Edelweiss, Climb Ev'ry Mountain and Sixteen Going on Seventeen, this heartwarming story is great for the entire family! Call for showtimes; tickets are $46-$60.

Sunday, January 16 - Chris MacDonald's Memories of Elvis
Join the Maltz Jupiter Theatre for a memorial tribute celebrating the life and music of Elvis Presley in honor of his 76th birthday. Showtime is 8 p.m. All tickets $45.

Saturday, January 29, 2011 - The Maltz Jupiter Theatre's Eighth Annual Gala: A Night In Vienna

Farish, Jr. and his wife, Loreen, the elegant evening will include cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction in the Mediterranean Ballroom, as well as dinner, grand auction and waltzing the night away in the Venetian Ballroom. 6 p.m. Tickets are $375; call (561) 972-6124.
