JOYCE DEWITT In REMEMBER ME

Joyce Dewitt to Star in New Alhambra Show, Remember Me

Romantic comedy featuring "Three's Company" star replaces "Sylvia" on the Alhambra Season Schedule

Craig Smith, Managing Partner of the new Alhambra Theatre & Dining announced this morning that Joyce Dewitt will star in Sam Bobrick's romantic comedy, Remember Me. Miss DeWitt is most widely known to audiences for her starring role as "Janet Wood" in the ABC Television hit series "Three's Company," but she is no stranger to live theater, working both as actress and director in a stage career which spans over forty years. She recently starred in A Scattered, Smothered and Covered Christmas Musical and the Canadian productions of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Dinner With Friends and Alfred Uhry's Tony Award-winning play The Last Night of Ballyhoo. Other recent stage performances include the North American premiere of the Australian comedy Daylight Savings, the British farce Noises Off, the revival of Cole Porter's Anything Goes, and the Broadway musical Olympus on My Mind, for which she completed the cast recording - her first record album.

Remember Me will run from September 5 through October 7. Originally during this period the Alhambra had scheduled Cindy Williams to star in Sylvia, however Ms. Williams was offered the lead role in a national tour of Nunsense. Recognizing that a national tour is a rare opportunity – and with the promise that Ms. Williams would perform at the Alhambra as soon as she is able – the Alhambra went in another direction, casting Ms. DeWitt in Remember Me.

Said Smith, "We are delighted to have Joyce with us in Remember Me. Every time I mention her coming to the Alhambra, people light up. Her role in "Three's Company" is as memorable as any, and we are excited to have her as part of our Alhambra family. We're thrilled for Cindy, and wish her well on her adventure. We're confident she will join us as soon as her schedule allows and we look forward to that show.

Remember Me is a about a couple in their early fifties who have what appears to be a very comfortable marriage and a very good life. They live in a gorgeous apartment, their children are grown and gone and they pride themselves on being the best of friends. Though content, their marriage has grown tired. One morning while Brian is playing tennis their lives are turned upside down when Mary's college boyfriend, Peter, shows up...or does he? Although Peter takes Mary in his arms, professes his undying love and devotion to her and begs her to forgive him for breaking her heart many years ago, he turns out to simply be Mary's fantasy. That doesn't stop Brian from going into a jealous rage, even to the point of hiring an actress to play the role of his own fantasy, Tori, with the hope of making Mary jealous driving her back to her senses. Things get even more complicated when the real Peter actually shows up. Ms. DeWitt plays the role of Mary, which she has played before to critical acclaim in Kansas City, MO.

"Remember Me" runs September 5 through October 7. Times are 8:00 PM for evening shows Tuesday through Sunday. Doors open at 6:00 PM and dinner starts at 6:30 PM. Matinees on Saturday are at 1:15 PM. The Alhambra Theatre is the nation's longest continuously operating professional dinner theatre and the only professional resident theatre between Atlanta and Miami. Opened in 1967, The Alhambra has hosted legends such as Tony Curtis, Claude Aiken, Sid Cesar and Cesar Romero, and, recently, Sally Struthers, Loretta Swit, Barry Williams and Jamie Farr. The Alhambra was the place of Betty Grable's final acting role. In November 2009, the Alhambra was purchased by Theatre Partners, LLC, headed by Jacksonville entrepreneur and Alhambra patron, Craig Smith as way to give back to Jacksonville and preserve what he believes is one of its cultural jewels.
