Sonia Jackson was performing in a production of The Vagina Monologues when she had a revelation.

"I thought that a play about breasts could be just as powerful," she said. "There are so many issues around breasts that could use some open discussion and healing. And everyone talks about them."

From that came Conversations 'Bout The Girls, which makes its return to the stage in a brand new format this June at The Complex as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Conversations 'Bout TheGirls focuses on women's relationships to various aspects of their breasts or the breasts of others. It is a series of relatable stories that connects with topics such as the names women have heard breasts called, getting breasts, bras, cancer, cleavage and more. The stories vary from hilarious to heartbreaking, embarrassing to moving, but all are...'bout the girls.

Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, Conversations 'Bout The Girls is normally staged as a collection of stories from different performers. But for Hollywood Fringe, Jackson decided to transform it into a solo show, weaving a fun and empowering personal tale with a thru-line from a character in a lingerie shop meant to give audiences a better perspective of a woman's journey. Her show is under the directorial guidance of acclaimed solo show artist and director Jessica Lynn Johnson.

"I have a lot of stories myself and interviewed women for others and what I got back was amazing," she said. "The more I told the stories, the more came back to me. So I'm telling them to remind women how elegant, strong and powerful we are."

Jackson is no stranger to the industry. Beyond a successful stand-up career, she has appeared all over TV and film in Jurassic Park 3, Speed, Mom, The Fosters, Pretty Little Liars, Grey's Anatomy, The Mentalist, Two and a Half Men and more. She's also studied with The Groundlings and Second City and produced her critically acclaimed one-woman show I'm Gonna Fly. She's thrilled to bring "the girls" to the Fringe and she says it's truly a show for everyone.

"I want the audience to leave with a greater understanding of what it is to be a woman," she said. "For women to leave feeling empowered, to empower women to heal their bodies, minds and spirits by discovering their inner strength, courage and beauty, and to encourage a greater expression of self-esteem and self-respect."
