The U.S. government shutdown is fodder for satire on the next live performance of the award-winning comedy show Right Between the Ears - Saturday, October 26 at 8:00pm at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, KS.

Besides the stalemate in Washington, the RBTE crew is cooking up spoofs of TV's American Ninja Warriors and pop star Miley Cyrus, along with the overheated medical drama of Incompetents Hospital and outer space adventure in a new episode of Space: 1956. Also, Jesus Christ turns sitcom star and entrepreneurs hawk ill-advised inventions, like do-it-yourself lasik surgery.

The 2013-14 season opener also features appearances by alumni from the summer radio theatre camps conducted every year by Right Between the Ears. Christopher Justice and Norah Wilson were selected from this year's camps. Both are psyched to make their broadcast comedy debuts as cadets Hadlee and Alexei in an episode of Space: 1956.

In addition to the annual theatre camps for kids, Right Between the Ears also performed over the summer at the 2013 HearNOW Festival, where the show was named the Fan Favorite, and presented five shows at the KC Fringe Festival, where RBTE was named one of the Best of the Fringe.

Tickets for Right Between the Ears are $15.50 - $19.50 and on sale at the Liberty Hall box office, Ticketmaster and at the RBTE website.

Right Between the Ears is a four-time winner of the Gold Medal as Best Comedy Show at the New York Festivals, and is broadcast every week on Sirius-XM's Comedy Showcase. The show also airs Sundays at 7:00pm on the stations of Kansas Public Radio (91.5, Lawrence; 89.7, Emporia; 91.3, Junction City; 99.5 Manhattan; and 90.3 Chanute). Cast members for the upcoming performance include Rhiannon Birdsall, David Greusel, John Jessup, Mary Ellen Kriegh, Tom Lancaster, Andi Meyer and Kip Niven. Darrell Brogdon is the show's creator and producer.
