Company Manager - The Cape Playhouse

COMPANY MANAGER – THE CAPE PLAYHOUSE

The Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA is seeking an experienced Company Manager for our 2023 season. This is a seasonal position. The Cape Playhouse was named one of the 50 Best Small Stage Theatres in America and is the longest-running professional summer theater in the country. Referred to as the “Place Where Broadway Goes to Summer” by The New York Times, The Cape Playhouse has attracted a long litany of famous actors since its inception in 1927.

The position starts on May 7, 2023

The responsibilities of the Company Manager include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing contracts, payroll, and weekly reports to Actors Equity;

• On-boarding all actor hires, including all paperwork and payroll filings;

• Coordinating travel bookings for the seasonal company of cast, crew, creatives, and production staff;

• Effectively managing cast and creatives travel from NYC (booking via Amtrak) as well as managing and coordinating cast and creative travel during the season from the Playhouse to lodgings and hotels. This job will entail a good deal of driving, so the Company Manager must have a valid driver’s license, and the ability to safely operate a passenger van and/or a car;

• Overseeing and maintaining the Company Management Budget;

• Overseeing the (2) Company Management apprentices;

• Facilitating hospitality for the crew during load in/tech and change-overs;

• Work in conjunction with the Covid Safety Officer adhering to The Cape Playhouse Covid Safety Plan and evolving COVID-19 guidelines, including surveillance testing for all company members;

• Maintains a pleasant and amiable demeanor in communicating with all staff and patrons;

Additionally, we are looking for someone who is:

• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting;

• Has a positive attitude, and excellent communication and time management skills;

• Is a self-starter with initiative and problem solving skills;

• Someone who thrives in a demanding environment with a fast turnaround between shows;

• Familiarity with Google Drive, Dropbox and Ovation Tix is a big plus;

• Theatre experience in Company Management, or equivalent is strongly preferred;

• Loves the theatre!

The Cape Playhouse will compensate you for your travel to Dennis and provide housing. Company Management will be expected to work together during change-overs which run from Saturday through the following Wednesday.
