Oct 31-Nov 1: No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre

Two women and one man are locked up together for eternity in one hideous room in hell. The windows are bricked up; there are no mirrors; the electric lights can never be turned off; and there is no exit. The irony of this hell is that its torture is not of the rack and fire, but of the burning humiliation of each soul as it is stripped of its pretenses by the cruel curiosity of the damned. Nov 7-9: The Loving Demise of Lord Blackwell and His Wife by Milena Westarb
Directed by Ellen Sachs
A light-hearted, melodramatic Victorian-Era farce for the prim and proper, with hilarity, witty banter, and slapstick galore! Following the mysterious death of his uncle, Lord Blackwell, James Solomon inherits his estate and also an enormous fortune. Lady Blackwell, the young second wife-turned-widow of Lord Blackwell, will go to any length to secure the fortune for herself. However, when James' proposal to Ann Winfield crushes the Lady's plans to marry him and inherit the money legally, she resorts to desperate measures to get what she wants. Meanwhile, George, a servant in the Solomon household, and Miriam, Anne's handmaid, do a little snooping of their own to expose Lady Blackwell's treachery. Will they find more than they bargained for? Drunken shenanigans ensue...

Nov 21-23: Thin Air by The Ensemble

Thin Air is a completely improvised one-act play. A simple audience suggestion will ignite a performance by actors who are freed from the limitations of a script to tell whatever story needs to be told. What transpires is a unique collaboration between the watchers and the watched that exists only in the present and nowhere else. The performance may be tragic or comedic, cryptic or obvious, transcendent or terrible -- that is up to you. When you let go of expectation and embrace the unknown, what will you pull out of Thin Air?

Dec 5-7: Treasure Island by The Ensemble
Directed by Scott Crandall
Treasure Island this season will be an adventure into the exotic seas of nontraditional storytelling. Starting without a script, the storytelling method will be entirely devised and deconstructed. From this essential skeleton, the most desperate elements of the tale will shine through like a knife; escapism, violence, social order, and with a number of gender-swapped characters, sexuality and gender roles.

All performances take place in Studio 1 of the Walgreen Drama Center and are totally free. Keep an eye out for audition notices throughout the semester.
