An absolute jazz dream team is coming to Wharton Center on October 20 as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Jazz at Wharton Center lineup.

For many this line-up alone will be mouthwatering: saxophonist Chris Potter, double bassist and Grammy winner Dave Holland, guitarist Lionel Loueke and drummer Eric Harland. You may be used to seeing them play on their own, or part of another group, but now they have formed a permanent band named Aziza.

Dave Holland made his breakthrough in MiLes Davis' band and is one of the 10 most important living jazz masters of today according to Downbeat Magazine. Chris Potter made name in the Dave Holland Quintet and is a role model for young jazz saxophonists all over the world. Guitarist and 'Blue Note recording artist' Lionel Loueke melds African guitar traditions with jazz harmony for a sound unlike any other. Drummer Eric Harland is currently part of Charles Lloyd's Sangam and the all-star band Prism led by Dave Holland.

Together, these four powerhouses create an evening of earth-shattering, soul-changing rhythms and beats. Jazz was never so intensely stirring as it has been since their arrival on the scene - reinterpreting history and projecting an intensely original flair onto a genre that has altered beneath their impressive touch. Don't miss out on the quartet of the century - the concert experience that will be talked about for years to come.

AZIZA will perform on October 20, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cobb Great Hall. Tickets are available at the official source to purchase Wharton Center tickets online, whartoncenter.com, at the Auto-Owners Insurance Ticket Office, or by calling 1-800-WHARTON.
