Comedian Ron "Tater Salad" White is best known as the cigar-smoking, scotch-drinking funnyman from the "Blue Collar Comedy" phenomenon. But he has become a star in his own right thanks to: two Grammy nominations, a Gold Record, three of the top-rated, one-hour TV specials in Comedy Central history, a book on The New York Times Bestseller List and CD & DVD sales of over 10 million units.

Over the past five years, White has been one of the Top Three grossing comedians on tour in the country. He sold out his 2010 PlayhouseSquare concert, and now returns for one 8 pm show on April 13th in the State Theatre.

White has always been a storyteller recounting tales from his boyhood in a small Texas oil-country town or selling windows for a living and his two decades of paying his dues bouncing around the country as a struggling comedian.

His career turning point began in January 200 as he joined fellow comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry The Cable Guy in the acclaimed "Blue Collar Comedy Tour" that played to sold out audiences and grossed over $15 million. The tour became a movie, released as a major motion picture in theaters in March 2003 and later premiered as the highest-rated movie on Comedy Central in its history.

White went on to record his first solo comedy CD "Drunk in Public," in 2003 as well as his first one-hour comedy special "They Call Me 'Tater Salad'". (The latter has sold over 2.5 million copies and been certified Multi-Platinum.)

His second one-hour special, "You Can't Fix Stupid," became the #1 show in prime time on basic cable. The CD by the same name that followed earned him a Grammy nomination. His second Grammy nomination would come from the CD "Blue Collar Comedy Tour – One For The Road."

In June 2006, Penguin Books released Ron "Tater Salad" White: I Had The Right To Remain Silent…But I Didn't Have The Ability. The book, which perfectly sums up Ron's life and his comedy, debuted on The New York Times Bestseller List and was filled with illustrations by acclaimed artist Mathew Shultz.

White's career has taken the next step into acting as he enjoyed supporting acting roles in the feature films Sex and the City 2, Horrible Bosses and Jayne Mansfield's Car. He joined producer Michael Blakey in co-founding their own business, Organica Media Group (OrganicaMediaGroup.com).

Tickets for Ron White at PlayhouseSquare's State Theatre April 13 at 8 pm are $46.75 and $56.75, on sale at PlayhouseSquare.org, 216-241-6000 or at The PlayhouseSquare Ticket Office in the State Theatre Lobby.
