Gorilla Tango Theatre will launch the Young Artists Program this May. The Young Artists Program will offer audition-only, performance workshops. Each workshop will commence in a fully-produced production as part of Gorilla Tango's show schedule. The first round of auditions will be held on May 20. Gorilla Tango Theatre, 1919 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647.

The Young Artists Program seeks to foster creativity in young people by giving performance opportunities to young artists that introduce students to the entire process of creating a production. Students will work together to write, produce and perform in high-quality, fully-produced plays as part of Gorilla Tango's schedule of shows.

GTT Education Director Victoria Montalbano is running the Young Artists Program and directing the first two productions of the 2015 season. Montalbano ran this program at the Skokie Theatre in 2013. "I am very excited to bring this program to Bucktown," says Montalbano. "It's very unique. I don't know of any other program that allows the students to work as ensemble to create something all their own, and have it produced professionally."

The Young Artists inaugural season will include four original plays, all written, produced and performed by the youth ensemble. First up, on July 25 and 26, is Twice Upon A Time, a sketch comedy revue that pokes fun at some of our favorite fairy tale characters. On September 12 and 13, Tne Buzz About Nothing will open. This modern adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing takes place on Manhattan's Upper East Side and the story will be told in the style of your teen's favorite dramas. Maurice D. Proffit will direct the third production of the season, Reservoir Hounds, about six delinquent students who carry out a college exam heist at the school district head office. Performances on November 7 and 8. The season will close on December 5 and 6 with Goose on the Loose, a retelling of favorite nursery rhymes. Tickets to all Young Artists productions are $10, and are already on sale at www.gorillatango.com.
