DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre will transport audience members through the rabbit hole into a world of wonder for twelve performances of Alice in Wonderland from tonight, February 14-March 2.

Show Dates and Times:

· February 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and March 1 at 6:30 p.m.

· February 15, 16, 22, 23 and March 1, 2 at 2:30 p.m.

· February 22 (audio described and touch tour performance) 2:30 p.m.

· March 1 (Playlet Performance) 9:00 a.m.

Two casts of 66 total actors and 40 crew members will come together to tell the story of Alice, who falls down a rabbit hole and enters into the fantasy adventure of a lifetime. Arriving audience members will enter into a world of creative madness as they walk through their very own rabbit hole at the entrance of the theatre and find themselves in the perfect seat for a Mad Hatter tea party, a chaotic croquet match with the Queen of Hearts, and a trial of Alice to find out who stole the Queen's tarts.

"The visual effects of this show will certainly catch the audience by surprise," said Paige Hoke, guest director of Alice in Wonderland. "Brightly colored doors, a large caterpillar that changes color, and a rose bush that changes from white to red are just a few of the key visual elements that will create a whimsical environment for audiences of all ages."

Hoke, who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Arcadia University, first found her passion for theatre at DreamWrights in the fifth grade. Since then she has served as a teacher, actor and director for the youth and family theatre. This performance will be the first time Hoke will direct a DreamWrights show with a double cast.

"Directing a show with twice as many performers is an added challenge," said Hoke. "But working with twice as many performers who are passionate about the show also means the experience of directing is twice as rewarding."

For the performers, who range in age from 7 to 59, the experience has been a blend of creativity and silliness. "There is a line in the show where The Cheshire Cat declares 'We're all mad here' and I think everyone in the cast embraced that line in a positive way," said Hoke.

For younger theatregoers looking to become part of the excitement of this show, tickets can be purchased for a special playlet performance taking place on March 1 at 9:00 a.m. Attendees to this abbreviated performance will enjoy a continental breakfast and tea, will create a show-themed craft, and will be invited to become part of a scene from the show as they attend the Mad Hatter's tea on stage. This very special theatre experience is best suited for ages 3 to 6.

In addition, a special touch tour performance will be held on February 22 at 2:30 p.m. for audience members who are visually impaired and who would like to touch the stage, set, costumes, and props prior to the show in order to improve their theatre experience.

"The playlet and touch tour shows are just two more ways we are focused on making the theatre experience accessible for those of all ages and abilities," said Ann Davis, executive director of DreamWrights.

Audiences are recommended to purchase tickets in advance for all shows. Advance ticket purchase is required for the February 22 audio description performance and the March 1 playlet and breakfast performance.

General admission tickets are available for $8.00 and reserved seating tickets are available for $12.00. To order, visit www.dreamwrights.org or call 717-848-8623.
