During Christmas week, Birdland was the place for some planned and not-so-planned special musical guests during the run of A SWINGING BIRDLAND CHRISTMAS, starring Hilary Kole, Jim Caruso, Billy Stritch & Aaron Weinstein.

One (very) surprise guest was Donny Osmond, currently knocking ‘em dead alongside sister Marie in their holiday extravaganza at the Marquis Theater. During the opening number, Donny jumped onto the stage and joined the Birdland cast for some impromptu riffing on Kay Thompson's "The Holiday Season." The crowd went wild, as did the cast. "I've wanted to be an Osmond Brother my whole life, and this came dangerously close to fulfilling that goal!"

Other musical guests during the week-long run were Christine Ebersole, Stephanie J. Block, Klea Blackhurst and William Blake, all of whom favored the crowd with their favorite holiday song, with folks like Liza Minnelli, Lucie Arnaz, Eve Plumb and Rex Reed cheering from the house.
