The Melbourne Cabaret Festival has announced it will produce an EP featuring one of the hit shows from its 2012 season.

Spanky and Robert Tripolino will enter a studio to professionally record five tracks from their hit show 'Candice McQueen: Nasty'.

To fund the recording the Melbourne Cabaret Festival is asking fans to pre-purchase the EP via http://pozible.com/spanky. You can also choose to pre-pay for a ticket to the EP launch: today, 4 November at the Wonderland Spiegeltent in Melbourne.

This EP will be the Festival's first, and sales will help to underpin both it and an international tour of the show in 2013. If the festival exceeds the target, funds will go to the international tour, encompassing London, Edinburgh, New York, Los Angeles and New Zealand.

The Melbourne Cabaret Festival is one of Victoria's fastest growing festivals. It is a not-for-profit Festival currently funded through fundraising campaigns, its membership program, strategic sponsorships and ticket sales, giving the Festival unparalleled community support. In early 2012 it became the first Festival in Australia to have its 'core funding' provided via crowdfunding, with hundreds of people supporting it including Geoffrey Rush, Amanda Palmer and Paul Capsis.

The Melbourne Cabaret Festival also recently announced its 2013 season will be held Thursday 27 June through to Sunday 7 July.
