Linkin Park to Present Premiere Performance of 'The Catalyst' Live at MTV VMA's, 9/14

For the first time on television, Linkin Park will be performing their #1 single on the Billboard Alternative and Rock Songs Chart, "The Catalyst" for fans at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. This marks the first single off their highly anticipated new album, A Thousand Suns scheduled for release on Tuesday, September 14. Other performers on the show include Usher, Paramore, Eminem, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Drake, B.o.B, Florence + The Machine, along with Travie McCoy, Jason Derulo and Robyn who will perform with this year's VMA house artist, deadmau5.

"After 2 years of working on our new album, we're looking forward to sharing our first live performance of new music with our fans around the world on the MTV Awards," said Chester Bennington, lead vocalist of Linkin Park.

Confirmed presenters include: The Social Network's Justin Timberlake, Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Trey Songz, Ashley Greene, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo. As previously announced, comedienne Chelsea Handler will host the show. The "2010 MTV Video Music Awards" will air live from Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 9PM (Live ET/Tape delayed PT.) MTV will announce additional performers and presenters on a later date.

Viewers can vote for general VMA categories, including "Best New Artist," by visiting vma.mtv.com beginning Tuesday, August 3. In addition, text voting for "Best New Artist" is open to all wireless carrier subscribers by texting BNA to 97979. Voting continues through the show, live on September 12. Also, Verizon Wireless subscribers can vote in all categories by texting VMA to 97979 (standard message rates apply.)
