According to Variety, at around 6AM EST, a hacker leaked the first ten episodes of season 5 of popular Netflix series ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK. The leak reportedly came after the hacker stole the episodes, then attempted to threaten Netflix. When Netflix did not respond to the hacker's demands, the episodes were released via The Pirate Bay.

The much anticipated season of OITNB was scheduled to premiere on June 9th, but Netflix may now be forced to move up the release date.

The hacking theft is said to also include unreleased episodes from other networks such as National Geographic, ABC, Fox, and IFC. Similar release threats have allegedly been made to these networks as well.

Prior to the leak, Netflix released the following statement:

We are aware of the situation. A production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved.
