Giancarlo Esposito to Star in Off-Broadway's STOREFRONT CHURCH

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Breaking Bad's' Giancarlo Esposito is set to star in Pulitzer Prize and Tony winner John Patrick Shanley's STOREFRONT CHURCH. The actor will portray a Bronx borough president who is struggling with a mortgage crisis. The situation will "bring him into conflict with a local minister as they explore the relationship between a spiritual experience and social action." The play is the final installment of the trilogy which began with 'Doubt'. 

Shanley penned the script and will produce the production which begins previews on May 16 and will run June 11 through 24 at the Atlantic Theater Company's main stage, the Linda Gross Theater. The theater recently underwent an $8.3 million renovation. Bob Dishy, Zach Grenier, Ron Cephas Jones and Tonya Pinkins will also star.

Best known to theatergoer's for his award winning work on stage, Giancarlo has won two Obie award's for "Zooman and The Sign" at the Negro Ensemble Company, and "Distant Fires" at The Atlantic Theatre Company. Giancarlo has a long list of Broadway credits, including, "Sacrilege," "Merrily We Roll Along," "Seesaw" and "Lost in the Stars" and 2008's "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof".

Giancarlo has appeared in such films as; "The Usual Suspects", Wayne Wang's "Smoke" and Mr. Wang's "The Last Holiday," opposite Queen Latifah. He has also starred opposite Paul Newman in "Twlight" and Clive Owen in "Derailed." He received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for his performance in "Fresh," and his work in several Spike Lee movies is legendary. They include; "Do The Right Thing," "Mo Betta Blues" and "Malcolm X." Among Esposito's other numerous film credits are "Sherrybaby," "Ali," "Nothing To Lose," "Bob Roberts," "King of New York," and "Cotton Club."

His TV work includes "Homicide Life on The Streets," "Law and Order," and "Kidnapped", "Breaking Bad" and a recurring role on ABC's 'Once Upon a Time'.
