Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul to Tape Front and Center Episode at Asbury Park Music & Film Festival

The 2017 Asbury Park Music & Film Festival has announced that Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul have added an additional performance on Friday, April 21 at 4:00 p.m. at the House of Independents in Asbury Park, NJ for a live episode of the public television live music series Front and Center. VIP tickets priced at $325.00 will include an assigned seat in the first three rows, an invitation to a meet & greet with Stevie following the performance, festival gallery pass and drink ticket. General admission (standing) tickets will be available for $75.00. Tickets will go on-sale on Friday, April 7 at Noon ET and will be available by visiting www.apmff.com.

Stevie Van Zandt's songs have been performed by artists such as Jackson Browne, Pearl Jam, Jimmy Cliff, Damian Marley, Gary U.S. Bonds, Darlene Love, Nancy Sinatra, Brian Stetzer, Black Uhuru and more. He also co-produced the seminal Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band albums The River and Born in the USA. Van Zandt has produced albums for Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Gary U.S. Bonds, Darlene Love, Ronnie Spector, Demolition 23, Majek Fashek and more.

Van Zandt is a musician, performer, songwriter, arranger, music producer music supervisor, TV producer, actor, director, Broadway producer, TV and film composer, live event producer, international DJ, activist, historian, teacher, founding member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, co-founder of the Asbury Jukes and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul released their debut album Men Without Women in 1982. Since then, they went on to release Voice of America (1984), Sun City (1986), Freedom: No Compromise (1987), Revolution (1989), Born Again Savage (1999). On May 19, they will be releasing Soulfire, their first album in 19 years.

As part of the Festival, Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul will also be appearing at the Paramount Theatre on Saturday, April 22. Other performances scheduled include the Upstage All-Star Jam (April 21 at the Paramount Theatre) Robert Randolph and the Family Band with opening performance by the Matt O' Ree Band(April 21 at the Stone Pony), Mike + The Mechanics (April 21 at the House of Independents) Preservation Hall Jazz Band(April 23 at the Paramount Theatre) and more.

The film documentary, Just Before the Dawn, directed by Tom Jones, will make its world-premiere on April 21 at the Festival. The film focuses on the legendary Upstage rock club and will include exclusive interviews with many musicians who helped create the aura of the venue. It will also take a unique look at Asbury Park in the 1970's and how race riots would impact the city for years to come. The Upstage was a historic rock club located on Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park from 1968-1971. The club, opened by Tom and Margaret Potter, would become the venue where young artists such as Stevie Van Zandt, Southside Johnny Lyon, Bruce Springsteen, Garry Tallent, Danny Federici and others would jam together for hours lasting until dawn.

The 2017 Asbury Park Music & Film Festival will be presented by Founding Partners RWJ Barnabas Health and the Asbury Park Press. The Festival would also like to thank Two River Community Bank for their continued partnership.

About Asbury Park Music & Film Festival The APMFF was founded with the mission to benefit the underserved youth in Asbury Park, one of the most challenged youth communities in the country. Funds raised through the APMFF support music programs for these children. Specifically, the APMFF will support three programs including The Hope Academy Charter School, The Hip Hop Institute and the Asbury Park Summer Recreation Music Camp. Over time, the APMFF plans to extend its reach throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The Festival will continue to provide music education, instruments and social connection opportunities for children in underserved communities.
