Classical Group Combines Past and Present with Grammy Winner at Ethical NYC

New York Society for Ethical Culture and CreArtBox music group, present a performance with music by Grammy winner Bryce Dessner, a world premier by Joshua Penman and music by Debussy and Beethoven with a pre-concert talk by Lewis Lockwood.

CreArtBox will perform at the fifth edition of the CreArt Music Series in a concert holding by 7.30pm at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 W 64th St, New York, on Friday the 26th of January, 2017.

Directed by Guillermo Laporta and Josefina Urraca. CreArtBox's mission is to engage audiences by presenting high-quality performances of new music written by emerging and established living composers as well as classical music from the 17th century onwards, alongside innovative visual and performance designs (set, light, & projection).

CreArtBox is devoted to presenting new chamber music, working closely with commissioned composers. In this performance CreArtBox will premiere the piece "Moontides" by American composer Joshua Penman, and the piece "Murder Ballades" by Bryce Dessner. This work was featured on eighth blackbird's album Filament, an album he also produced and won the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance.

The program will also include the Petite Suite by Claude Debussy arranged by Michael Webster and the Kakadu Variations for Piano Trio Op.121a by Ludwig van Beethoven.

There will be a pre-concert talk by pulitzer nominee and Beethoven specialist Lewis Lockwood, author of Beethoven: The Music and the Life and Beethoven's Symphonies: An Artistic Vision.

CreArtBox performers will include, flutist Guillermo Laporta, pianist Josefina Urraca, cellist Julia Yang, violinist Mélanie Clapiès, clarinetist Nicholas Gallas, and percussionist Doug Perry.
