(Le) Poisson Rouge and WORD Bookstore are proud to announce the launch event for Bob Boilen's upcoming book, YOUR SONG CHANGED MY LIFE: From Jimmy Page to St. Vincent, Smokey Robinson to Hozier, Thirty-Five Beloved Artists on Their Journey and the Music that Inspired It. The event will take place at (Le) Poisson Rouge at 158 Bleecker Street on Tuesday, April 12th, at 6:00pm.

Bob Boilen is a name that needs little introduction for music fans: he is the creator and host of NPR Music's All Songs Considered and Tiny Desk Concert series and former director of NPR's All Things Considered (1989-2007). Boilen is an avid concert goer-seeing close to 500 bands per year-and a passionate music fan. In YOUR SONG CHANGED MY LIFE, Boilen shares stories from musicians across all genres: from legendary Talking Heads front man David Byrne to indie icon Cat Power to electronic musician James Blake. Music fans and casual listeners of all ages will find much to admire in this rare, revelatory work.

One of a diverse group of musicians who contributed to YOUR SONG CHANGED MY LIFE, singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson, will join Bob to discuss the book, music, and more. A brief audience Q&A and book signing will follow.

Tickets for this event are $35 (event admission and book included) and $15 (event admission only). Additional copies of YOUR SONG CHANGED MY LIFE will be available for sale, courtesy of WORD Bookstore. Visit LPR.com for further information or to reserve tickets.

(Le) Poisson Rouge is a multimedia art cabaret founded by musicians on the site of the historic Village Gate. Dedicated to the fusion of popular and art cultures in music, film, theater, dance, and fine art, the venue's mission is to revive the symbiotic relationship between art and revelry; to establish a creative asylum for both artists and audiences. LPR prides itself in offering the highest quality eclectic programming, impeccable acoustics, and state-of-the art performance space, engineered by the legendary John Storyk/WSDG. A work of art itself, the physical facilities are the embodiment of the experimental philosophy that drives the venue. LPR is a source you can trust for exposure to visionary work, people of character, and a consistently dynamic environment.

WORD is your local independent bookstore in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and in 2013 we opened our second location in Jersey City. Our primary goal is to be whatever our communities need us to be! In Brooklyn, we carry lots of paperback fiction (especially classics), cookbooks, board books, and absurdly cute cards and stationery. We're fiends for a good event, from the classic author reading and Q&A to potlucks to a karaoke party, and pretty much anything set in a bar or music venue.
