Norwegian artist Bernhoft will perform at Bowery Ballroom on Monday, May 23 at 10PM in celebration of his new EP Stop/Shutup/Shout It Out.

Stop/Shutup/Shout It Out is out now via Big Picnic Records. The new music is receiving early critical acclaim-Billboard hails it as "soul-imbued" while Baeble Music furthers "'Stop/Shutup' finds the Scandinavian performer in full maximalist pop mode with the sort of track that could dominate the radio this summer."

Stop/Shutup/Shout It Out follows Bernhoft's 2014 Grammy-nominated album Islander which was met with widespread critical acclaim-The Los Angeles Times explains, "Conjuring the raw sound of Richie Havens and Sly Stone with the spirit of Mayer Hawthorne and Sharon Jones, Bernhoft is so obviously a star that it feels only a matter of time before he breaks stateside," while NPR Music furthers, "Islander...captures echoes of Stevie Wonder and Sly Stone, but Bernhoft transforms these sounds into something fresh."

Of the EP, Bernhoft reflects, "I've done three albums. Three is a good number; it feels like a little closure. Lyrically, I've felt like I've spun a red thread through them, both internally and between them. I thought it a fantastic opportunity to just throw all ambitions of coherence to the wolves, and let every whim and impulse flow freely. All of these songs are elusive in subject matter, you can try to grasp what they're about, but there is always an anomaly or two in there. Not that they're just thrown in there at random, but I am a very whimsical guy and I find it more honest to let it reflect in my lyrics. I dance on tables while reciting poems about cruelty and/or platonic love. That should come out in my music."

In celebration of the EP Bernhoft will play the new songs on the road this month, kicking off his U.S. tour on May 10 at Boston's Brighton Music Hall. Additional stops include Washington DC's Union Street Music Hall, Chicago's Schuba's Tavern, Los Angeles' Troubadour and New York City's Bowery Ballroom. Emerging soul artist Jonny P will open. Bernhoft, known for his intricate and complex live performances, is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and composer Jarle Bernhoft.
