Anne Hathaway has won Best Supporting Actress at this evening's BAFTAs for her role as Fantine in Les Miserables, beating Amy Adams, Helen Hunt, Judi Dench and Sally Field to the award.

Les Mis has also won the award for best hair and make-up, best production design as well as best sound.

It missed out on Best British Film, though, as Skyfall pipped it at the post.

Argo took the prize for Best Film overall.

And Hugh Jackman was beaten for Best Actor by Daniel Day Lewis for his role in Lincoln.

Sir Alan Parker, director of Evita and Bugsy Malone, was awarded this year's BAFTA fellowship.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) supports, promotes and develops the art forms of the moving image - film, television and video games - by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public.

As the leading charity in the UK supporting the art forms of the moving image, BAFTA ensures that the very best creative work can be accessed and appreciated by the public.
