The Exponential Festival Opens Today

The Exponential Festival, Brooklyn's new multi-week festival promoting theatrical performances created in New York, begins today. The festival kicks off with the opening of Banana Bag & Bodice's highly anticipated LongYarn at The Bushwick Starr.

Performances take place January 13-30 in partnership with The Bushwick Starr, The Brick Theater, Chez Bushwick at The Center for Performance Research, Cloud City, and Vital Joint at The Silent Barn. The Exponential Festival celebrates the increasing growth and importance of Brooklyn venues and local artists, working together to keep theatre kicking. Participating artists/companies include Banana Bag & Bodice (LongYarn), Eliza Bent (Toilet Fire), Bread Arts Collective (Rise & Fall), Darian Dauchan (Black Sheep), Sidney Russell (Biting the Stone from the Inside), Jason Trachtenburg (Dr. Glassheart), Jeff Seal (The Goddamn Truth), and Title:Point Productions (Biter / Every Time I Turn Around), along with a special musical performance by Ziemba.

A panel discussion will take place January 16th from 4-6 PM at The Silent Barn, moderated by Andrew Dinwiddie (CATCH) featuring artists, curators, venue owners in conversation about making art in New York. Panelists include Darian Dauchan (Black Sheep), Alec Duffy (JACK/Hoi Polloi), Michael Gardner (The Brick Theater), Caleb Hammons (CATCH), David Herskovits (Target Margin), Kirstin Kapustik (Chez Bushwick), Sue Kessler (The Bushwick Starr), and Katie Melby (Cloud City/Bread Arts Collective).
