Whole Backstage Theatre's Pride and Prejudice Closes

The Whole Backstage presents its winter season production of Pride and Prejudice through February 19 under the direction of Will Smith. Evening performances begin at 7:00 pm with Matinee's starting at 2:00 pm. This romantic comedy, by Jon Jory, based on Jane Austen's classic novel, is being directed by Will Smith of Guntersville, and features Jon Brown and Kayla Harper, both of Arab, in the lead roles. Ms. Harper is playing Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine on the story, while MR. Brown portrays Mr. Darcy, her love interest.

About the show: Set in and around Hertfordshire, England during the Georgian Era, the story centers on the Bennet family of Longbourn, specifically their daughter, Elizabeth. She, with her sisters, confront the problems of marriage, independence, love, responsibility to ones family, and of course, pride and prejudice.

The cast will also feature Chris Carter (Owens Crossroads) as Mr. Bennet, April Burns (Boaz) as Mrs. Bennet, Jared Max Wright (Grant) as George Wickham, Katie Lindsay (Guntersville) as Jane Bennet, and Chris Bryan (Guntersville) as Mr. Bingley.

Supporting cast members are Kim Ashley (Boaz) as Mary, Caroline Norton (Guntersville)) as Kitty, Cadley Jackson (Guntersville) as Lydia, Tammy Hyatt (Arab) as Miss Caroline Bingley, Catie Wells (Huntsville) as Charlotte Lucas, Linda Stover (Albertville) as Mrs. Gardiner, RJ Whitfield (Hayden) as Mr. Collins, MAndy Moore Broadhurst (Albertville) as Lady Catherine DeBourgh, Adam McBride (Grant) as Colonel Fitzwilliam, Nedra Watson (Boaz) as the Housekeeper, and in a dual role, Dwight Holland (Arab) as Mr. Gardiner and Sir William Lucas.

BriAnna Johnson (Guntersville) Camren Hilyer (Arab), Cierrah Araujo (Guntersville), Dillen Parsley (Guntersville), Kennedy Pickard (Guntersville) and Tyler Goble (Guntersville) will be featured dancers in the ball scenes.

The production will be performed on a bare stage with lighting, designed by Mary Copeland (Arab), and costumes, designed by Kim March-Force (Guntersville), helping to advance the story. The action is continuous with no breaks between the scenes, the dialog flowing from the Bennet home at Longbourn to a nearby estate at Netherfield Park, then on into Rosings and finally to Pemberley. There will be some set pieces representing furnishings, designed by Bob Copeland (Arab) and decorated by local artist KElly Jackson, and Andy Hunter, both of Guntersville. The stage crew, most of whom will be costumed as servants, are Lexi Scarbrough (Guntersville), Jessica Watson (Guntersville), Camren Hilyer (Arab), Elle Kyle Purdum (Guntersville), Joseph Munn (Owens Crossroads) and Dairl Hays (Blountsville).
