The Wetumpka Depot Players are inviting audiences to curl up with a good "script" and cup of coffee. The fall slate of shows wrapping up the Depot Player's 35th Anniversary Season are based on best selling books. Tuesdays with Morrie, opens for a two week run on the Depot stage, October 15. This play follows a successful run of Love, Loss and What I Wore, another play based on a best seller.

Artistic Director, Kristy Meanor is excited about directing Tuesdays with Morrie. "I wasn't familiar with the book but had seen the show at Southeastern Theatre Conference a few years ago and knew it would be a good fit for the Depot stage because of how much I laughed during the show. The humor in the show surprised me ," said Meanor. " I connected with the great message in the play of living life to the fullest every day of your life. It was one of the most endearing and uplifting shows I had ever experienced. When I began thinking of two actors to cast in the show, I immediately thought of my friends, Bill Nowell and Lee Bridges. Both are not only accomplished actors, but they are also long time friends. I knew their off stage friendship would make this show extra special."

The play combines comedy and poignancy and makes the blend perfectly. Written for the stage by Mitch Albom and Jeffrey Hatcher, and based on Albom's best selling book, Tuesdays With Morrie is a feast for the mind and the heart. The uplifting, true story follows American journalist Mitch Albom's series of meetings with his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie's appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.
