Birmingham's newest non-profit theatre company, Central Alabama Theater (CAT) opens their latest production of THE BIKINIS, an Alabama Premier, at the Steeple Arts Academy in Crestline Village!

THE BIKINIS tells the story of four friends that "accidentally" form a girl group in the 60's. Now, that girl group that everyone loves from the 60s is back together after 25 years. They're bringing back all the sun, fun, and great songs they sang on the boardwalk and it's all to raise money for the good folks at Sandy Shores Mobile Home Beach Resort.

The Bikinis, or "The Jersey Girls," relive their heyday and beyond, beginning in the summer of '64, when these four inseparable girls got their name, winning the Belmar Beach Talent Contest, wearing just their bikinis! The boardwalk was smitten with the 4 teens... Jodi and Annie, two sisters from Paramus New Jersey; Karla, their slightly manipulative first cousin from Philly; and best friend Barbara, from Staten Island.

THE BIKINIS is a nonstop celebration of song filled with hits like IT'S IN HIS KISS, YELLOW POLKA DOT BIKINI, HEAT WAVE, UNDER THE BOARDWALK, THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKIN', INCENSE AND PEPPERMINTS, LOOK WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO MY SONG, MA, WHEN WILL I BE LOVED, I'M EVERY WOMAN, I WILL SURVIVE, IT'S RAINING MEN and many more!

THE BIKINIS features three local favorites, Emily Herring, Natalie Collins and Monique Gannon. Broadway veteran Catherine F. Vaughn, joins the cast from NYC and rounds out the highly multi-talented cast.

Dates are: July 27 through August 6 2017 - 7:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m. matinees. To reserve your seat for Smoke on the Mountain go to www.CentralAlabamaTheater.eventbrite.com. More info can be found on the website or on Facebook at Central Alabama Theater.
