United Solo to Present Sean Patrick Monahan's DIVA, 10/7 & 24

United Solo proudly presents Less Than Rent Theatre's World Premiere of Sean Patrick Monahan's Diva on October 7th and October 23rd at Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street). The production will be directed by James Presson (FringeNYC Award Winner for Directing in 2010). Designs will feature lights by Gary Slootskiy (Independents), choreography by Jennifer Delac (Beckett in Benghazi), and fight design by Cory Asinofsky (Richard 3).

Desmond Channing, a dethroned high school drama queen, tries to make sense of his impending execution by reenacting the events leading up to his murder of archenemy Evan Harris in an impromptu prison cabaret performance. "Glee" meets "Dexter". "La Cage Aux Folles" meets "Richard III". "All About Eve" meets "The Silence of the Lambs".

SEAN Patrick Monahan (Writer/Performer) is an award-winning playwright, actor, and vocalist, who has appeared on television, in film, and on numerous stages in New York and Baltimore. His last solo musical, written with composer Herbert Rothgarber, opened to great acclaim at the Long Island Composers' Alliance, and his play High Upon the Gallows Tree won Best Play in Manhattan Repertory Theatre's One-Act Competition last year. Sean Patrick has also worked extensively with theatre legend and Tony-nominee Charles Busch, appearing regularly in Mr. Busch's work at Theatreworks USA, Manhattan Theatre Club, and Theatre for the New City. He has also performed at Lincoln Center, New World Stages, the Helen Hayes Theatre, and The Wild Project. Sean Patrick is a company member of Less Than Rent.
