Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish's lavish, Dora Award-winning production of the timeless classic THE SOUND OF MUSIC will enjoy its 1st Anniversary - a full year on stage at the Princess of Wales Theatre - this Friday, October 2.

Host Kevin Frankish (Breakfast TV - City TV) will introduce the popular Toronto company - including both "Marias" (
Elicia MacKenzie and Janna Polzin), the Captain (
Burke Moses), Rolf and Liesl (Louie Rossetti and Anwyn Musico), the Mother Abbess (Noëlla Huet), the von Trapp children and the sisters of Nonnberg Abbey - in a free lunch-time concert featuring a few of their (and everyone's) favourite songs from the hit production - including The Sound of Music, My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, So Long, Farewell and Edelweiss.
Plus... those attending are invited to get into the Sound of Music habit and participate in the biggest gathering of non-nun nuns ever yet seen in
Nathan Phillips Square!
The first 99 people who come on Friday dressed as nuns (or reasonable facsimiles) will receive a free pair of tickets to the October 31 evening performance of the show.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC will conclude its engagement at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre on January 3, 2010. THE SOUND OF MUSIC began performances on October 3, 2008 and was an immediate favourite with audiences and critics alike.
ABOUT THE CAST
Leading the cast in the role of Maria is Dora Award-winner
Elicia MacKenzie, who performs the role six times a week, alternating with Janna Polzin, the alternate Maria who performs the role twice weekly.
Captain von Trapp is played by Broadway star
Burke Moses, who won acclaim for originating the role of Gaston in Disney's Beauty and the Beast in New York (a role he also performed in London's West End and in Los Angeles).
Noëlla Huet plays the Mother Abbess. A mezzo-soprano with an impressive resume of credits in classical music and opera productions, Noëlla has also performed in many theatrical works and toured internationally with the acclaimed Deux Mondes theatre company.
Playing Max is
Keith Dinicol, a veteran of 24 seasons at the Stratford Festival, where he has played in productions ranging from A Midsummer Night's Dream to To Kill a Mockingbird. Keith has also performed across the country in productions such as Guys and Dolls and Amadeus.
Blythe Wilson plays the Baroness Schraeder. A star of both the Shaw and Stratford festivals, where last season she won raves for her work in Oklahoma!, Blythe has also performed in musical productions across the country, notably playing the lead role in Mamma Mia! at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.
Liesl, the oldest of the von Trapp children (and the one who sings the iconic song Sixteen Going On Seventeen), is played by Anwyn Musico. Playing Rolf, the young man who has caught Liesl's eye, is Louie Rossetti.
The rest of the von Trapp children, who are double-cast, with each performing four shows per week, consist of (oldest to youngest): Frederich, played by Shawn Molko and Erik Anthony Weinhart; Louisa, played by
Emma Burke-Kleinman and Madison Leigh Scott; Kurt, played by Robbie Graham-Kuntz and
Michael Murphy; Brigitta, played by Julianne Bisnaire and Sarah Carmosino; Marta, played by Camden Angelis and Hannah Lowe; and Gretl, played by Alexandra Abitol, Natali Ioffe and Clare Lowe. The two children's standbys are Nikki Mele and Andy Reid.
Jennie Such plays Sister Sophia, Mary-Ellen Mahoney is Sister Margaretta and
Jayne Lewis plays Sister Berte. Admiral von Schreiber is played by
John Robinson, Frau Zeller by Denise Oucharek, Franz by
James Kall, Fraulein Schweiger by Deborah Overes, Frau Schmidt by Brigitte Robinson and Herr Zeller is played by
Warren Kimmel.
