Black Box Entertainment will present Soul Searching, a new rock opera by Matt Okin and Avi Kunstler, which is now in previews at The 45th Street Theater, 354 West 45th Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues). The show will open on January 21st for an open-ended run.

"Told entirely through original song and music, Soul Searching follows
the plight of a single Jewish woman in New York City as she struggles to find her match and her true spiritual place in the world. Laugh-out-loud funny, heart-wrenching and uplifting, the story resonates with singles, marrieds and in-betweens from all backgrounds," according to press notes.

"Brenda is beautiful and intelligent with a successful career, but
wonders why she is still alone. Her married friends set her up with various men within the Jewish community (the Right Wing Orthodox, the Kabalist, the Upper West Sider, and more). All the right intentions, all the wrong men, as she waits for her true soul mate to come along, and sweep her off her feet."

The music and lyrics for Soul Searching are by Avi Kunstler (A Match
Made in Manhattan, Destinations, Second Chances and Twist of Faith), who also occasionally plays rhythm guitar in the band. Soul Searching's book, additional music and lyrics, and direction are by Matt Okin (A Match Made in Manhattan, One Innocent Woman, Cherry Hill, Destinations, Second Chances and Twist of Faith).

The cast for Soul Searching features Amanda Hunt, Andrew Hubbard, Susan
Erenberg, Russell Feder, Aaron Grant, Danielle Faith Leonard, Avery Pearson, Max Roll, Stewart Schneck and Elizabeth Woodard; the musicians are bassist Jon Taub, drummer Jason Horowitz, guitarist Vita, and keyboardist/musical director Yitzy Glicksman. Lighting design is by Jason Norris, and the co-producers are Stewart Schneck and Aaron Grant.

Previews started in mid-October, just after a
developmental workshop at Theater for the New City.

The schedule is Thursdays at 8PM, Saturdays at 9PM, Sundays
at 3PM and 7:30PM. Tickets are $30.00 and may be purchased by calling the box office at (212) 352-3101 or by visiting www.theatermania.com.
