Photo Flash: Meet the Cast of York Little Theatre's CABARET

Come to the Cabaret...York Little Theatre (YLT) invites you to join them at the Kit Kat Club in Berlin for a rompish, wild time -and a history lesson - in CABARET. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in the photos below!
This is Director Aaron Dalton's third experience with Cabaret. He was an actor the first two times he was involved with the show, and he is now directing one of his favorite musicals. Aaron's direction will have the audience experience 1930's Berlin in the intimate black box studio setting. Tables will be set up in the front row so the audience is the center of attention as if they are actually lounging at the Kit Kat Club. In the midst of in-your-face entertainment is a roller coaster ride. You will be on a high from the frolic of song and dance and drop to a low with serious issues, such as troubled relationships and Germany's rise to power. "The show will punch you in the gut when you least expect it," said Dalton. YLT will perform the 1998 revival version of Cabaret produced in the infamous Studio 54, "which is much more provocative," Dalton added.
Cabaret, set in 1931, follows British performer Sally Bowles, who works at the seedy Kit Kat Club in Berlin. As the Nazis are rising to power, an American writer, Cliff Bradshaw, travels to Germany for inspiration for a new novel. Meanwhile, a doomed romance is beginning to blossom between a German boarding house owner and a Jewish fruit vendor. Audiences will enjoy famous musical numbers such as "Willkommen", "Maybe This Time" , and the title song "Cabaret". The show is recommended for adults and mature audiences.
The musical is two separate stories in one, the first a review centered on the decadence of the seedy Kit Kat Klub, the second story set against the backdrop of events that would change the course of human history. Cabaret premiered on Broadway in 1966, and later won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The 1972 film starring Liza Minnelli and Michael York went on win the Academy Award for Best Director (Bob Fosse) and Best Actress (Minnelli).
YLT veterans Mike and Christina Ausherman will share the stage as the doomed couple German Fräulein Schneider and Jewish Herr Schultz. In real life, their relationship is far from their characters, having met on the YLT stage in 1979 and later married in 1981. They have performed numerous times at YLT since 1979, but have not shared the stage again until now. Emily Falvey will portray Sally. She returns to York after a successful run of a show in California and singing country music. Emily opened for big names including the Oak Ridge Boys.
