The 11th Annual Project A.L.S. "Tomorrow is Tonight" benefit gala was held at the Waldorf Astoria on October 6, 2008 in New York City. Actor Ben Stiller hosted the event, which raised money and awareness for Lou Gehrig's Disease (aka amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), giving support to both patients and researchers. Lou Gehrig's Disease is a degenerative neurological disease that is often fatal, and for which there is no cure.

Notable people living with the disease include physicist Stephen Hawking and American football star Orlando Thomas. Notable people who have died from the disease include baseball star Lou Gehrig, jazz bassist Charles Mingus, Jack Benny's co-star Dennis Day, British actor David Niven and Sesame Street director Jon Stone. Gala guests included Jane Alexander, Ray Kelly, Veronica Kelly, Talia Balsam, Christine Taylor, Julianna Margulies, Gina Gershon, John Slattery, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara and Matthew Broderick.
