Olmsted Performing Arts to Offer Backstage Tours of THE WIZARD OF OZ, 11/15-22

Olmsted Performing Arts (OPA) - http://www.olmstedperformingarts.com - in Olmsted Falls will present "The Wizard of Oz" at the Olmsted Performing Arts Center (OPAC) in November. One hour prior to the afternoon performances on Nov. 15 and 22 there will be a backstage tour, free to any student, providing insight into the cast and crew and stage design and operation of "The Wizard of Oz" at OPAC.

"The Wizard of Oz" is a musical about a young girl, Dorothy, who is swept away to a magical land in a tornado and embarks on a quest to see the Wizard who can get her back home.

OPA has assembled a talented and locally recognized cast and will produce the spectacular family-friendly show, which is the second to last production of the 2014 OPA season.

The Free Student Backstage Tour Days are at 1 p.m. November 15 and 11 a.m. November 22 at the OPAC, 6941 Columbia Rd. in Olmsted Falls, OH.

You do not have to attend the musical to attend the Backstage Tour.

During the backstage tours students will learn the professional secrets that go into producing a show with a large cast with many costumes, entire costume changes in less than 10 seconds and lots of special FX, like flying - as well as meet some actors from the cast, as they prepare to perform on stage in the 1,200-person OPAC auditorium. The guided tour will also introduce students to the crew of the production. Students can ask questions, learn tips and gain insight into the duties of the prop master, sound crew and music director. The Backstage Tour Days guide will be one of the OPAC directors who can also answer questions about directing a show.

Students, and their teachers or parents, must show up an hour before the "The Wizard of Oz" performance for the tour on the Backstage Tour Days. The Tour is FREE to students and $2 for parents and teachers.

Prize package raffle tickets, for a Toto Prize Package for your pet dog and a Sympathy For The Witch Prize Package for your pet cat will be sold to audience members during each performance, with winning tickets being drawn on Sundays. The North Olmsted Pet Pantry (NOPP) - http://www.northolmstedpetpantry.org - is providing pet clothing, collars, leashes, toys and treats for the prize packages, each prize package is worth about $125.00.

"The Wizard of Oz" performances are Nov. 14, 15 and 16 and Nov. 21 and 23 at 7 p.m. Matinee performances are Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. and Nov. 22 at noon.
