A cast of leading woman in the arts including Lisa Brescia, Stockard Channing, Jenn Colella, Suzanne Farrell, Judith Jamison, Patti LaBelle, k.d. lang, Annie Leibovitz, Audra McDonald, Reba McEntire, Veronika Part, Amy Poehler, Dianne Reeves, LeAnn Rimes, Chita Rivera, Kathleen Turner and members of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will perform at the Kennedy Center's 17th annual Kennedy Center Spring Gala, Sunday, May 3rd at 8:30pm in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The evening will highlight the achievements and contributions of women from a wide range of artistic genres. The impressive line-up of women has each advanced the cause of equality for women in the arts, through performances, photography, songwriting, choreography, or advocacy.

Christine Schwarzman serves as the 2009 Gala Chair. The Kennedy Center Spring Gala Premier Sponsor is The Boeing Company, whose sponsorship plays a crucial leadership role in supporting the presentation of the Kennedy Center's artistic and educational programs throughout the year. Kennedy Center Chairman Stephen A. Schwarzman hosts the event along with Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser. President Barack Obama and Mrs. Obama are the Honorary Patrons.

The black-tie evening begins with a reception on the River Terrace at 5 p.m. followed by an elegant dinner on the Roof Terrace level at 6 p.m. The Gala performance begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall. The evening concludes with ‘Til Midnight, a cocktails and dancing party, in the Roof Terrace Restaurant.

As one of Washington's premier benefit engagements, the annual Kennedy Center Spring Gala provides critical funding to support the Center's performances, education and outreach initiatives. From commissioning and presenting productions for students to sponsoring seminars and workshops for teachers and arts managers, the Kennedy Center provides numerous opportunities to enrich the appreciation of the performing arts in our local community and across the country-all while presenting world-class performances throughout the year.
