Celestial Baroque Sounds in Burnside to Open the 2014 Concert Season at St David's Anglican Church, 2/2

The opening concert of the St David's Anglican Church, Burnside, 2014 concert season will be a program of exquisite Baroque music presented by visiting German trumpeter, Marco Frizenschaf, Soprano Trudie Jackson and St David's Music Director, Organist, Ray Booth.

The program will feature much loved works by Handel, Bach and Telemann, including Handel's beautiful Let the Bright Seraphim arranged for soprano, trumpet and organ.

Admission is $10 which includes light refreshments.

Marco Frizenschaf, trumpeter, was born in Freiburg im Breisgau in the 'capital' of the Black Forest, Southern Germany. Marco has studied the trumpet since he was 15.He has been instrumental in the formation of many musical ensembles involving artists, music directors, composers and organ players .

He is a member of the "Au Pont de Europe" chamber ensemble and performed works such as Haydn's "The Creation" (2006) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's " Requiem " (2011), under the direction of Felix Ketterer. Marco performs throughout Europe both with ensembles and as a solo trumpeter and is in much demand especially in Southern Germany and French Alsace Province.

Trudie Jackson, soprano has sung as both soloist and chorister with many ensembles, including the Adelaide University Choral Society and at St David's Anglican Church. She is a member of Graduate Singers and the Pilgrim Church Choir. Trudie has also been part of music at St Francis Xavier's Cathedral since joining its choir in 1986. Music is her hobby and love and she is regularly engaged for recitals, weddings and funerals.

Ray Booth has been the organist and director of music at St David's Church, Burnside since 1988. Other activities have included being the unofficial university organist for Flinders University. He has also been a guest accompanist/continuo player for both the Adelaide Harmony Choir, and for smaller ensembles, or solo musicians, playing piano, harpsichord, or organ as required.
